  •  Early Call for Candidates—in March 2017 at our Annual Business Meeting and Elections we will hold elections for President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and two (2) Directors for the Texas State Assembly Board of Directors. A Delegate Election will be held during the same meeting to elect delegates to represent our state assembly in the AST House of Delegates at National Conference.

  •  AORN Credits Update: In the past the Texas State Assembly has partnered with AORN in offering Nursing Credits at our workshops. The Texas State Assembly Board of Directors discussed the continuation of this practice. A decision was made to STOP offering AORN Credits at our workshops. The main factors in this decision was the process to complete the documentation to AORN specifications, the cost paid to AORN for Nursing Credits, and the decreasing number of RN attendees at our meetings.

We welcome all nurses both LVN and RN to attend our workshops. The Texas State Assembly Board of Directors value the relationship we have had with AORN and will continue to review this decision in the future if attendance figures change. We also value the wonderful working relationship the CST and RN Circulator have in providing safe surgical patient care.
